Raw Food for Cats with Allergies
Most feline food allergies are protein-driven. Raw makes elimination diets easy because you control exactly what's in the bowl.
How elimination diets work
Pick a single protein your cat has not been exposed to (or hasn't had recently), feed it exclusively for 8–12 weeks, and watch for symptom changes (skin, GI, ears).
Choosing a starter protein
Turkey is often the gentlest first try. Beef is a useful second option. Chicken is the most common allergen — skip it if your cat has skin or ear flare-ups.
What to avoid in the bowl
- Mixed-protein recipes during the elimination phase
- Treats that contain other proteins (use freeze-dried single-protein only)
- Flavored medications (ask your vet for an unflavored alternative)
